Interactive Whiteboards provide new learning options for both educational institutions and business never before thought possible!
An interactive whiteboard, combined with a computer and data projector, can provide significant opportunities in the classroom. For example, information (such as a slide show) held on the computer can be displayed on the IWB and then adapted and annotated by drawing or writing directly onto the IWB.
The multimedia projector connects to the desktop/Laptop computer and projects the image displayed on the computer screen onto the interactive whiteboard. The computer is normally controlled by a mouse, to control the computer from the whiteboard you now use a pen or your finger, as you move the pen/finger across the whiteboard the cursor moves across the Desktop/Laptop screen. The pen gives you the same functions as a mouse to manipulate programs/images via the whiteboard. All interactive whiteboards come with software, to enable you to use it as a copyboard. You can write or draw on the whiteboard with the pens provided and save the image to the the computer. These images, which are your notes from the meeting or training session, can then be printed or emailed. The software that comes with interactive whiteboards also has built in OCR which is Optical Character Recognition, which means you can write on screen and the computer will recognise your handwriting and turn it into computer text. Interactive Whiteboards ( Smartboard ) are available in a variety of configurations to meet your specific needs and applications and have become synonymous with reliability and affordability.
